He was 79.
Frank was born August 9, 1932, a son of Francis and Josephine Carney. He married Catherine (Jena) McManus on June 4, 1956 in Arney. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his two sisters, Monica and Nella.
Frank served his time in the Co-op Bakery from the age of 14. He also worked in Whaley's Bakery and Unipork. During this time he also reared pigs in the grounds of St. Michael's College.
He was a hard working conscientious man. He continued to make apple tarts until his health declined in December 2011.
Frank was affectionately referenced by Fr. John Skinnader as "the king of tarts and the king of hearts" in his funeral homily at St. Michael's Church, Enniskillen.
Frank's passion was baking, his other interests were horse racing, fishing, nature programmes and John Wayne films. He was a devoted husband to Jena for almost 56 years. His compassion and generosity were evident in all aspects of his life. He quietly went about his business without fuss. He cared for his family. In later years he looked after his ailing wife even though he was suffering poor health himself. The largely attended removal and funeral were tribute to Frank's popularity and standing in the community.
Frank is survived by his wife Jena; his eight children, Martin (Paula) Carney, Francis (Chris) Carney, Anthony (Alisa) Carney, Aquinas Carney (Brian Duffy), Denise (Philip) Nolan, Pauline (Paul) McCaffrey, John Carney (Julie Murphy) and Janet Carney; 13 grandchildren, Niall, Aisling, Damian, James, JP, Roisin, Christy and Niamh Carney, Philana and Mikaela Nolan, Matthew McCaffrey, Jamie Duffy and Dee Dee Murphy; two brothers, John (Patricia) and Michael (Anne).
The Month's Mind will take place on Saturday June 30 at St. Michael's Enniskillen at 6.00pm.
